The Silver King Marketplace

Dating back to 1879 this historic building in Down Town Florence was originally built by William Long who was part mine owner of the Silver King Mine in Globe. Being the closest established town to Globe at the time, headquarters were set up in Florence and this building was turned into a hotel and dry goods store. Over the years a restaurant was added. This building became a local trading place for the miner’s wives to make and bake goods, sell dry goods to local families and become a hot spot for the town and it’s visitors. The restaurant flourished until about 1977.

The historic building itself went through several reconstructions after fire damage in both 1893 and 1995. Today this red-brick building owned by the town of Florence houses several local businesses, including The Florence Fudge Company, Buck’s 4 Style Consignment, What’s Upstairs, Bearfoot Sage Acupuncture and W Rose Skin Spa.
